GESTALT OF TRADE EVALUATION

Concrete parameters and general gestalt judgment operate on two different levels, and both matter. The first level is analytical. The trader breaks the setup into visible parts: volume, price action, VWAP, pattern structure, location, and other measurable features. This step creates discipline. It prevents the mind from jumping into a trade merely because something feels exciting or urgent. It forces the trader to inspect the evidence in an orderly way. The second level is integrative. After the parts are checked, the trader asks a broader question: Does this whole setup feel right? Is this what I want to trade repeatedly? Does this set deserve a full-size position? Am I trying to convince myself that this setup is good? If I get in, will I be confident enough to hold the position for x hours, or will I jump out quickly? If you want to trade only "A" setups, you need to learn to let go of many appealing opportunities. That’s part of the job. You’re not just deciding what to trade, but also what to leave alone. This is harder than it seems because many weak or average setups don't look bad. They appear almost good enough, tempting, and tradable. A "B" setup can easily disguise itself as something better, especially when you seek action, progress, or a sense of involvement. That's where trouble starts.
